This city is known as one with effortless style
An atmosphere full of simplicity and calmness
My life here was rather normal for a while
I breathed in the fresh air, the sky above me cloudless
Because beneath every city lies a dark past
As if I woke up from a trance, it all became clear
People like me who once belonged here
Are now beneath the pavement crushed
Their ghosts are roaming the streets, whaling, weeping
Architecture built on a Foundation of corpses
With their unspoken presence they are creeping, haunting
It’s so easy to forget them, nameless, faceless
What was once a rich culture is now ashes
My illusions of acceptance and freedom are now shattered
Every day I am walking on the remains of my forefathers
My beloved city’s facade like pebbles crumbled
This place is built on top of a hellmouth
This city reeks of unholy fire and charred flesh
Sometimes there are days I can’t bring myself to breathe
What should be a sacred memory is being treated like dust
It was their blood carelessly and violently spilled
The very same blood that pulses through my heart
I’ve seen it all through their eyes
I know the bloodshed on which the city lies
Not just by soldiers sent from hell
By those who pretended they didn’t know
Those who betrayed, those who complied
Those who bent their heads, those who obeyed
Their offspring who inherited their hate,
are out to get me, use me, then burn me
I saw it all like a prophecy in my trance-like state
Warnings that came to me like a memory
They can all go to hell with their fake regrets and guilt
I know the stories of what was once here
I know what is now gone and needs to be rebuilt
I will never let anyone control me with fear
