At a time when global challenges increasingly touch our campus lives, Jewish students are not just participants inthe conversation; we are essential voices in shaping it. As leaders of the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) Campus Global Board (CGB), we have seen firsthand the transformative power of young Jewish engagement, not only in advocating for our communities but also in building meaningful coalitions across cultures and causes. AJC has long stood at the intersection of diplomacy, advocacy, and education. On campus, this mission takes on new urgency. CGB builds on that legacy, bringing together Jewish students from across six continents, including the U.S., Argentina, Australia, South Africa, France, and beyond. We collaborate across time zones and traditions to inform AJC’s global advocacy with lived student experiences, diverse cultural perspectives, and a shared commitment to democratic values. But none of this can happen in isolation. Jewish advocacy thrives when it is rooted in relationships, when we listen as much as we speak, when we show up for others, and when we invite others to stand with us.
Our international colleagues often ask – how and why are students with the American Jewish Committee morequalified to speak towards global Jewry. The answer, in short, is that we are acutely aware of our unique position. While the U.S. is home to the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, it would be unfair to base our perspective through the lens of one singular diaspora community. It is because of this reason that our CampusGlobal Board is staunchly international, with members hailing from six continents, working hand in hand withAmerican counterparts to advise on trends, traditions, and cultures. This ensures that our advocacy is nuanced, meaningful, and impactful when collaborating with U.S. policymakers.
We invite you to follow AJC’s social media accounts (@ajc.global on Instagram or @AJCGlobal on X) for thelatest updates regarding global diplomacy. The future of Jewish leadership is already here, and it’s rooted in global campus voices like ours.
