Once in a golden valley
Of a cloudless state
There was suitable space
For a profound embrace
Of sun and moon
Near heaven’s gate
Impressions of destined chessed
Among us and still to come
Voice to voice, lips to lips
Evoking radical kinships
Heartbeat on heartbeat
Through our transcendent drum
Their finely aged, sun-kissed grapes
Tasted true and eagerly sweet
While her cultivated, soft touch
Made me feel seen
Fairly distinct, yet vulnerably complete
Then, time after time,
Word after word,
She unearthed old roots
In new worlds
Her heartening gevurah
Permitting my mind
To candidly unfurl
So under G-d’s good constellations
As Their lucky, caring creations
We celebrated each other
Trusting the moonlight’s flow
To accentuate our sparks
With its blessed glow
Ergo modeh ani, grateful I am
For being in your know.
